How to Submit Your WordPress and BlogSpot SiteMap to Ask.com

If you are running one or multiple blogs either on Blogger BlogSpot or wordpress(selfhosted or wordpress.com) you must need to care about search engines to properly crawl and index your all posts and pages. Search engines automatically detects new web docs and crawl them. But if we help them to understand how our web site pages and blog posts are constructed, they will index them more quickly. I also showed how to notify new domains/sites to search engines like Google, yahoo and Bing before submitting sitemap.

What is Sitemap ?

If you don’t know what is sitemap, a site map (or sitemap) is a list of pages of a web site accessible to crawlers or users. It can be either a document in any form used as a planning tool for web design, or a web page that lists the pages on a web site, typically organized in hierarchical fashion. This helps visitors and search engine bots find pages on the site.

It’s very easy to submit sitemap to Google, yahoo and Bing where they provide direct tool to their webmaster tools. But currently ask.com don’t have any webmaster tool and also they don’t provide any direct way to submit sitemaps. But they made a way to submit your sitemap to them which technique is not publicly known.

Way to Submit your Blogger and WordPress blog to ask.com search engine :

For Self Hosted WordPress :
For self hosted wordpress blog you must need to use google xml sitemap generator plugin which will generate your sitemap at http://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml . Now to submit your sitemap to ask, copy the following link
http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=http://www.techgainer.com/sitemap.xml
and replace the red area with your domain name and then enter this address to your browser address bar. You will see a success message from ask.com .

For yoursite.wordpress.com :
If your blog is hosted at wordpress.com domain then the URL should be
http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=http://yoursite.wordpress.com/sitemap.xml
Where you have to replace yoursite with your sub domain name and copy then enter the address into your browser addressbar.

For Blogger Blogspot blogs :
The URL should be
http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=http://yoursite.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
also try
http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=http://yoursite.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?orderby=updated

Do for both both links as I told for previous twos.

After successfully submitting your sitemap to ask, it will show youa confirmation message like below
