How to Hide a Drive or Partition in Windows Without Any Software

You may already know “How to bypass windows folder security check to access into protected folders” . Today we have a different tutorial on a problem that every windows user should know it. When your computer have one or more users, then you may have some problems. Because you may have very secret or important data in your hard disk that means in a specific drive or partition. Wouldn’t it funny if you could hide or make invisible drive or partition for your user accounts without using any software? No one will be able to see your specified drive or partition. So let’s go through the tutorial.

Hide a Drive Without Software :

Step 1: Go to run ->type: gpedit.msc

gpedit.msc home window

You will see a window like above.

Step 2: Then select User Configuration and then expand Administrative Templates.

Step 3: Go through Windows Components -> Windows Explorer expand it.

Windows Components -> Windows Explorer

Step 4: In right side’s pane find out Hide These specified drives in My computer and double clicking this option thus a new window will appear.

Hide These specified drives in My computer

Step 5: Mark the “Enabled” option and below this check out Option where you can choose the specified drive or all drives to restrict.

Mark the “Enabled” option and below this check out Option

So it is done by you without any software.

Here you can see my PC’s screenshot:

(Some times viruses, root-kits, Trojans make your one or more drives invisible! So now you can make them visible through this process.)

  • Hi Sharif,
    i read your article. thats amazing. i just want to confirm that if i hide my partiotion , will ite be possible for someone to actually find out the files by searching the whole computer. for example, if there are some files with .mp3 extension, and i have a program installed on that drive which is storing the files with that extension; and i want that no body can access those files, except the administrator or myself, is it possible.

    • No.
      Nobody even admin of your computer won't be able to find out a single pieces of information or file whatever he is trying to access. If you do not give the privileges to other users then they won't access gpedit.msc and unable to find anything from that drive.

      Nanna Munna Bacha, sorry for my late reply as i was busy.

  • Is there any specific way to hide the partition only for guest account not for personal administrator account??
